General DescriptionA rhizomatous herbaceous perennial.
ShapeUpright flower stems and mounding foliage.
LandscapeA good, low maintenance groundcover for small areas, edging for shady locations (for example along walkways), plant groupings in wild, woodland or naturalized areas, partially shaded rock garden locations.
CultivationPlant in full sun to partial shade in dry, extremely well-draining, slightly acidic soil. Prefers humus-rich loams.

Leaf DescriptionCompound, medium green leaves and heart-shaped serrated leaflets up to 7.5 cm long. Young leaves have a red tinge which changes to green, and back to red in the autumn.
