General DescriptionHabitat degradation and deforestation are a large cause of the ancient species globally threatened status on the IUCN Red List.

CultivationFairly drought tolerant and is relatively tolerant of wet soils. Young plants are tolerant to shade however mature plants are not.
HabitatMountains of Central Honshu, in limestone outcrops.
