Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as least concern.
HabitatTemperate forests in mountain valleys and along stream banks at an altitude of 1,000-2,600 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionDark grey with dark brown branchlets.
Leaf DescriptionOvate-lancolate, ovate-elliptic or oblong, with a rounded or subcordate base and 12-16 lateral veins on either side, 2.5-7x2-2.5 cm.
Flower DescriptionFemale inflorescence, 4-7x2.5-3 cm.
Fruit DescriptionGlabrous, broad and ovoid, 3x2.5 mm nutlet, produced July through September.
