General DescriptionThis species occupies an area of only 1,772 square km and has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatForests in south-west Sichuan at an altitude of 2,000-2,700 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionDark brown or purplish-brown bark with branchlets green or purple when young, maturing to glabrous and brown.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvoid.
Leaf DescriptionThin, greyish-green in colour, a subcordate or rounded base with 3 shallow lobes, 9-11 x 7-12 cm.
Fruit DescriptionYellowish brown fruit produced in September. Convex nutlets, yellowish brown in colour with spreading wings, 4 x 1.5 cm.
