General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as least concern.
HabitatMoist, subtropical forests at an altitude of 400-1,500 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionRough and hard, dark grey in colour.
Leaf DescriptionOval-oblong to oboval-lanceolate, thin, glossy green with a waxy and glaucous underside, a cuneate base and 9-12 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 13-25 x 3-7 cm.
Flower DescriptionDrooping male catkins and pistillate inflorescences 2-6 cm in length.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, oblong-ellipsoid, 3.5 cm.
