Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionA shrub or a small tree, reaching up to 3–5 m tall, with clusters of beautiful white or pinkish white flowers.
ShapeRounded.
PropagationBy softwood cuttings in early summer or semi-hardwood cuttings in late summer.
CultivationSun to part shade. Requires moist, acid soils, benefits from organic mulch. Protect from winds.
PestsPieris lacebug, a leaf spot and phytophthora root.
HabitatIt is found in thickets and open slopes at altitudes of 2000-3300 m. Distributed in NE India (Assam, Manipur, Sikkim), Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam.
Bark/Stem DescriptionLight brown, smooth, peeling off in platelike sections. Branches can be smooth or covered with fine hairs.
Leaf DescriptionShiny, dark green foliage. In young specimens the foliage is bronze coloured in spring.
Flower DescriptionSmall, white and waxy, arranged in clusters at branch tips.
