Bark/Stem DescriptionSmooth, broad flat leaf stems, 1 - 5 cm wide and 3 - 4 mm thick, occasionally lobed.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvate-spherical flower bud, often solitary.
Leaf DescriptionBroad, flat lanceolate leaves, often lobed, measuring 3 - 6 cm wide and 7 - 10 cm long, 1 - 3 mm thick.
Flower DescriptionLarge showy flowers, usually 8 - 16 cm in diameter, with broad-pinnate inner petals arranged in a loose rosette. Outer petals are lanceolate and narrow, 8 - 10 cm in length and 4 - 5 mm in width, and project outward.
Fruit DescriptionSmall insignificant fruit, similar to the pitaya, is borne after flowering ceases.
