| Leaf Description |
| The leaf size can be quite variable depending on the growing conditions and the availability of water. The, alternating leaves may be found with or without a short stalk, are oblong, silver grey in colour and may range in size from 2 mm to 1 cm in length. Leaf drop may occur at plant maturity and prior to dormancy. |
| Flower Description |
| The 1 - 3 crimson flowers originate from the leaf nodes along the stems and thorny branches. The upper petal of 1 - 1.5 cm long flowers has a pronounced curl inwards, while the 5 - toothed calyx is bell shaped. |
| Fruit Description |
| The pod may be straight or curved, 5 mm x 2 -4 cm long and has a slight curl towards itself and is constricted around the seeds. There may be from 3 - 8 bean-shaped seeds that are smooth and brown in colour. The plant goes dormant after fruiting. |
