Description and Growing Information

General Description Hosta 'Fire and Ice' is one of the more elegant looking of its Genus, a herbaceous perennial whose leaves are cream with dark green, irregular margins and star-shaped, pale lavender, tubular flowers.
ID CharacteristicScape is white and purple-dotted toward the raceme. When seed pods are produced, they are greenish-white with occasional purple lines. Forms a taller clump than most hostas.
CultivationGrow in part to full shade, in moist, well-drained soil.
PestsSusceptible to slugs and snails. Deer also enjoy eating the leaves.
HabitatHorticultural origin.
Leaf DescriptionCream to ivory with wide and irregular, dark green margins. Blade measures 15 x 10 cm.
Flower DescriptionTubular, pale lavender petals with pointed tips form a six pointed star.
