Bark/Stem DescriptionLight grey and furrowed bark with light greenish-brown twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionLarge, long and pointed, shiny russet or light brown in colour with minute tomentum (woolly down), 1 cm in length.
Leaf DescriptionOboval or oblong, 3 lobes with 7-10 lobes on either side, rough and dark green with a heart-shaped to auricled base, 10-25 x 8-15 cm.
Flower DescriptionDrooping golden brown catkins, 5-8 cm.
Fruit DescriptionAcorns are light brown, maturing in roughly 6 months. They are 15-35 mm long, egg shaped, usually with a blunt apex. The cup is covered with long, overlapping scales and russet hairs.
