Description and Growing Information

General Description'Brunette' is a bugbane cultivar recognized by it's purple to bronze tinted foliage and creamy white, strongly fragrant flowers blooming in late summer to early fall. The common name 'bugbane' refers to the plant's odoriferous insect repellant properties.
CultivationGrows easily in average, moderately moist soils but prefers humusy, organically rich, moisture-retentive soils. If soil is allowed to dry out foliage tends to scorch and depreciate in general. Grows best in a sheltered location protected from strong winds. Part to full shade. This plant is also slow to establish itself.
PestsNo serious pest or disease problems. Occasional rust and leaf spot problems and leaf margins may scorch if soil dries out.
HabitatHorticultural origin.
Flower DescriptionWhite, showy and fragrant.
