Euonymus europaeus (European Spindle)

Michael's Opinion

An excellent small tree, often needing a little training and care, it does suffer from occasional outbreaks of Euonymus Scale, which can be controlled with dormant oil. Leaves are very similar to the Burning Bush, E. Elatus, they do not however have the distinct autumn red of this species. Attractive red capsules burst open to reveal the orange seeds, these capsules hang from the trees for quite a period of time often into the late winter months.
