Description and Growing Information

PestsThe fuchsia gall mite (Aculops fuchsia) is now widespread throughout the British Isles and can be spread with infested plant material including cuttings. This insect sucks sap from plant tips and flowers causing severe disfigurement. Some species and cultivars such as F. 'Cinnabarina', F. 'Minature Jewels', F. 'Space Shuttle', F. microphylla subsp. hidalgensis, F. thymifolia and F. venusta show some resistance. Cutting back plants will eliminate most but not all of the mites and there is no chemical control.
