| General Description | A critically endangered small shrub or tree, bearing a number of sharp spines which are grouped in threes. The spines are to protect the plant from herbivores and being trampled on. |
| Cultivation | Dry sunny areas with sandy soils. |
| Leaf Description | Two different sets of leaves, the 1 cm long sharp spines which are produced in the spring and softer more divided leaves produced in the summer. |
