Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionA critically endangered small shrub or tree, bearing a number of sharp spines which are grouped in threes. The spines are to protect the plant from herbivores and being trampled on.
CultivationDry sunny areas with sandy soils.
Leaf DescriptionTwo different sets of leaves, the 1 cm long sharp spines which are produced in the spring and softer more divided leaves produced in the summer.
Fruit DescriptionRipen at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.
