Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionA critically endangered herb closely comparable to a thistle. It has tufts of woolly haired, spiny almost white stems, the leaves covered in yellow thorns and bears white or pink flower heads at the top of its stems.
HabitatEroded rock at an altitude of 1,500-1,700 m amongst montane dwarf shrub and steppe vegetation.
Leaf DescriptionLonger than they are wide, spear shaped and point in all directions.
Flower DescriptionFlower heads are comprised of numerous tiny tubular florets which give the illusion of one large flower.
