Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionA critically endangered mushroom which was first described by Giusepee Inzenga in 1863 as "the most delicious mushroom of the Sicilian mycological flora". It is short and thick, creamy white in colour with slanted white to pale yellow gills.
HabitatLimestone substrates at an altitude of 1,200-2,000 m, on rotten roots of Cachrys ferulacea between April and June.
