Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionThe largest of the lily species. An enormous plant, with its large, fragrant trumpet shaped flowers and heart shaped leaves, is a sight to behold. First discovered by Nathaniel Wallich in 1850.
LandscapeA spectacular focal point in lightly shaded exotic gardens and woodland borders.
PropagationBulb offsets and seeds.
CultivationIt is very sensitive to hot, dry conditions, preferring moist, humus-rich conditions and partial shade to thrive. For a patient gardener since the first bloom does not appear for about 6 years.
