Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionA beautiful silvery-tan plant which grows in areas not expected of cacti. Shrub or tree, terminal joints slightly clavate and gradually expand upwards.
CultivationSandy soils.
HabitatSmall washes and flats in lower deserts at an altitude under 300 m.
Leaf DescriptionStraight spines, acicular and moderately dense with pale yellow/beige sheaths.
Flower Description3.5-4 cm in diameter with sepaloids of green and purple middles and greenish yellow margins, obovate. Filaments a yellowish green in colour and 5 cm long.
Fruit DescriptionGreen and dry at maturity, 1.5-2 cm in length and 1.2-2 cm in width.
