HabitatDesert hills, ridges and washes at an altitude of 400-925 m. Often found in the Arizona Desert.
Leaf DescriptionIntricately branched with moderately dense spines, pale pink to grey in colour and 5-9 per areole, 1.9-2.5 cm in length.
Flower DescriptionLarge flowers 5 cm in diameter, few petals a pale purple or pink in colour with a yellow stigma.
Fruit DescriptionGreen with a hue of yellow, fleshy and tuberculate.
