General DescriptionThis tree has been placed on the IUCN Red List as least concern.
LandscapeWoodland and bog gardens.
PropagationPropagation by seed should be sown as soon as it is ripe in a cold frame. Germination should be done in the spring, once seed is large enough, prick and plant into pots. Plant in permanent positions in autumn/winter or the following season. Propagation by cuttings should be of mature wood and taken as soon as the leaves fall in autumn.
CultivationMoist, well drained, medium and heavy, acidic, neutral and alkaline soils in full sun to partial shade.
HabitatStream banks and forest ravines at an altitude of 900-2,700 m.
