General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as least concern.
HabitatMountain slopes in thickets at an altitude of 1,600-3,700 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionFissured, dark grey in colour with purplish-brown to brown branchlets.
Leaf DescriptionOvate-orbicular, broadly ovate or obovate, a cordite base with 5-7 lateral veins on either side of the mid vein, 4-12x3-9 cm.
Flower DescriptionMale inflorescences, cylindric and clustered in groups of 2-3. Female flowers clustered in groups of 2-3.
Fruit DescriptionOvoid-globose duts 1.5-2 cm in diameter, produced from July through September.
