General DescriptionThis subspecies has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatValleys in forests of high rural populated areas at an altitude of 500-2,000 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionPurplish or Greyish-purple in colour with thin branchlets.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionSmall winter buds with 5-8 scales.
Leaf DescriptionOvate or ovate-oblong, a rounded base, tufts of hair at the vein base, 8-20 x 5-9 cm.
Fruit DescriptionGlabrous and yellow in colour, 2-3 mm. Ovoid nutlets with spreading wings, 5-5.5x1.4 mm, produced August through October.
