General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
CultivationRich, well drained, mildly acidic soil.
HabitatOpen woodland at an altitude of 400-2,400 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionSmooth and pale grey in colour.
Leaf DescriptionOblong to elliptic, alternate dark green with a glabrous underside, 10-18 x 4-7 cm.
Flower DescriptionFragrant, 9 white tepals with a purple stripe running up the entire tepal, 8 cm in diameter.
Fruit DescriptionCylindrical, almost twisted, vibrant red in colour, 12.5 cm in length, produced in September.
