General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as vulnerable.

CultivationFertile, medium acidic, moist to well-drained leafy soil in full sun to partial shade.
HabitatThickets, slopes, shady ravines and open forests at an altitude of approximately 1000 - 1200 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionSmooth and grey in colour.
Leaf DescriptionElliptic to oblong, shiny, dark green leaves with a pubescent underside, turn yellow in autumn, 8-15 x 7 cm.
Flower DescriptionCup shaped, fragrant flowers with with small sepals which soon fall and 6 large white petals that are tinged with pink at the base and are 10 cm in length.
Fruit DescriptionCylindrical fruits turning a vibrant red in autumn when they mature then splitting open to display its vibrant red seeds.
