General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as critically endangered.
HabitatForest valleys on limestone mountains at an altitude of 800-1,500 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionThick, glabrous pale grey twigs.
Leaf DescriptionLarge elliptic to obovate, thick leaves, with 17-26 secondary veins on either side of the mid vein and a cuneate base, 20-35 x 10-13 cm .
Flower DescriptionFragrant deep red flowers with 12 tepals.
Fruit DescriptionEllipsoid-ovoid, 10-12 cm, produced September through October.
