General DescriptionWith less than 50-60 mature individuals in China and 200 in Vietnam, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as endangered.
HabitatMontane forests at an altitude of approximately 1,500 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionWood is soft, pale brown in its youth maturing to glabrescent.
Leaf DescriptionOblong-elliptic to elliptic, thick, glabrous with a shiny underside and a broadly cuneate base, 14-17 x 6-8 cm.
