Cultivation | Moist, acidic or neutral soil in full sun to partial shade, not tolerant of wind and therefore should be protected from it. |

Leaf Description | Obovate, thick dark green and glossy with a pale green underside covered in hairs, 14-20 x 10 cm. Narrowly oblong-obovate, cuneate at the base. |
Flower Description | Large, 10-12 tepaled pink to purplish-red flowers 15-33 cm in diameter in April. |
