Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionNot common with small populations, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatValleys and mountains at an altitude of 300-2,300 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionYellowish grey branchlets.
Leaf DescriptionElliptic, elliptic-lanceolate or obovate, rounded base, toothed with 7-11 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and pubescent, greyish green in colour with a yellowish underside, 2-6 x 1-2.5 cm.
Fruit DescriptionEllipsoid nut, 1.5 mm, covered with yellow hairs, yellowish-grey in colour, produced September through October.
