General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatWet montane forests at an altitude of 1,500-3,000 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionRough, grey to black in colour.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvate with sliky scales, 5-7 mm.
Leaf DescriptionElliptic or oboval, thick with a cuneate or acute base, glabrous with turfts of hairs at the axis and on the underside, 10-12 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 7-10 x 2-4 cm.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, rounded 1.5-2.5 cm.
