General DescriptionLocated in only along the mountain range in the province of Guangxi, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatMesophytic forests in mountains at an altitude of approximately 1,000 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionHairless and glabrous branchlets.
Leaf DescriptionObovate-elliptic to elliptic, glabrous, dark green with a whitish underside, 7-9 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a cuneate base.
Flower DescriptionFemale inflorescence which bears 3-5 fruit.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, oblong and glabrous with scales 2 x 1.3 cm. Oblong-ellipsoid and glabrous nut, 2-2.2 x 1.3 cm, produced in October in clusters of 3-5.
