General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatFound at altitudes of 1,800-2,600 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionGrey with fine fissures and thin, grey hairless twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvoid, with scales, 1-3 mm in length.
Leaf DescriptionOval or lanceolate, toothed, with tufts of hair at the underside axil, 3-11 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a rounded or obtuse base, 2-8 x 1-3.5 cm.
Flower DescriptionMale catkins, 2.5-4.5 cm in length.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, ovoid or globose, singular or paired, 0.9-1.3 cm in length.
