General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened and is considered vulnerable in China.
HabitatMountains in evergreen forests at an altitude of 400-1,800 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionGlabrous and angular branchlets.
Leaf DescriptionOblong-elliptic to obovate, glabrous and shinny, dark green, greyish or whitish, 9-12 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a cuneate base, 5-16 x 2-6 cm.
Flower DescriptionFemale inflorescence, 1-2 cm.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, ellipsoid, singular or in pairs, 2-3 cm in length, produced October through December.
