HabitatDry rocky canyons of the Chisos Mountains at an altitude of 0-1,650 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionFurrowed and grey with brown to reddish-brown twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvoid, glossy brown or reddish-brown, 1.5-3 mm.
Leaf DescriptionLanceolate to elliptic, toothed or shallowly lobed with a rounded to cuneate base, 4.5-9 x 1-2.5 cm.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, 4-6 x 7-10 mm.
