General DescriptionThis species occurs in only 2 locations, both in the Sierra Lamata and has been placed on the IUCN Red List as vulnerable.
HabitatMontane forests at an altitude of 2,600-3,300 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionSmooth dark grey bark with reddish-brown twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvoid with glabrous scales, dark brown.
Leaf DescriptionObovate to elliptic, 4-8 teeth, small hairs on the underside with 5-5 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a cordate base, 2-6 x 2-4 cm.
Flower DescriptionInflorescence 5-6 cm in length.
Fruit DescriptionOvoid acorn, 1-1.5 cm.
