General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatFound at altitudes of 1,800-2,600 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionScaly brown bark.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvoid, 2-3 mm in length.
Leaf DescriptionOboval or elliptic, thick toothed, greyish-green with a dull glaucous pale grey underside, 7-14 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a rounded or cordate base, 10-20 x 3-9 cm.
Flower DescriptionMale catkins 6-14 cm in length.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, pale brown and paired, 1.5-2.5 cm in length.
