General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened and is considered endangered in China.
HabitatWet forests in mountainous areas at an altitude of 800-1,700 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionHairless, glabrous, thin twigs.
Leaf DescriptionOval-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, deep green with a greyish-green underside, a cuneate base and 9-12 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 10-14 x 2.5-4.5 cm.
Fruit DescriptionEllipsoid acorn 1.5-2 cm in diameter.
