General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened and is considered endangered in Guatemala.
HabitatPlains and dry mountain slopes at an altitude of 1,800 - 2,900 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionFissured, grey bark with brown glabrescent twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvoid with glabrous scales, 2-3 mm.
Leaf DescriptionOblong-elliptical to oblong-lanceolate, thin, dark green with a paler underside, a rounded to cordate base and 10-20 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 3-10 x 1-4 cm.
Fruit DescriptionOvoid or cylindrical light brown acorn, singular or paired, 1.2-1.8 cm.
