Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionThis species is found only on the eastern side of Taiwan and has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
HabitatSteep limestone slopes and ridges at an altitude of 400-1,300 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionReddish-grey or brown bark with thin pubescent greyish-brown twigs.
Leaf DescriptionNarrow and oval, a pointed apex with a subcordate base, toothed and 5-10 veins on either side of the midvein, 2-4 x 1.5-2.8 cm.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, 1.4-1.8 cm in length, produced November through December.
