HabitatDry areas at an altitude of 900-2,500 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionDark brown bark with reddish-brown twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionOvoid, pointed 2-4 mm in length.
Leaf DescriptionElliptical, ovate or obovate, toothed, glossy green with a paler underside, a rounded, attenuate or subacute base and 9-14 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 10-25 x 4-10 cm.
Flower DescriptionCatkins, 6-12 cm in length.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, 1 x 1.5 cm.
