HabitatFound at altitudes of approximately 750 m in dry acidic soils.
Bark/Stem DescriptionDark grey with deep furrows, inner bark is pale yellow.
Flower/Leaf Bud DescriptionLight brown, 4-8 mm in length.
Leaf DescriptionThick, 3-7 lobes, dark grey, thick with a rounded base, 8-30 x 5-15 cm.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, globose, singular or paired, 1-2 cm. First acorns are not produced until the tree has matured to 25 years.
