General DescriptionThis species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as least concern.
HabitatFound at altitudes of 1,000-3,200 m.
Bark/Stem DescriptionSmooth, furrowed and grey bark.
Leaf DescriptionObovate, a pointed apex, glabrous, glossy dark green with a light green, pubescent underside, toothed, a rounded or sub-cordate base and 12-18 prominent veins on either side of the midvein, 12-25 x 6-12 cm.
Flower DescriptionDrooping catkins, yellowish, 5-12 cm in length.
Fruit DescriptionAcorn, glarbous, grouped in 2-5, 1.2-1.4 x 0.8-1.2 cm.
