Bark/Stem DescriptionYoung pads are covered with 2 - 3 cm spines.
Leaf DescriptionSpines appear in forms of 6 - 12 and grow from the areole.
Flower DescriptionThe flowers are 1 - 2 cm wide and are displayed at the joint tips and bloom in mid-summer.
Fruit DescriptionThe fruit is pear-shaped to round, wrinkled with a few spines. 4 cm long, producing flowers the following year.
Colour DescriptionThe stems are light green. The young branches have yellowish-silver spines that darken to a grey with age.
